I will say my idea of feminist was not far from the one the text provide. But i do think the understanding of it is what is wrong. I like how the text clarify that feminist is not about being anti-man but more of equality and how sexist do not necessarily have a target sex but rather can go either way. Also it goes father then a sex it is behaviors and thinking. Clearly feminist is always seen as a female that can be breaking culture stereotypes and somehow “disobedient” but as Sex and gender 101 explain there are a difference between sex , genders, sexual orientation, etc I think this goes along with the text because it is important to know the difference before cataloging a word or act under something which does not necessarily means that.
Another word that caught my attention was pansexual which basically you don’t like the either sex but like the person personality is a completely new word to me and find it really interesting because i do happens a lot. This article has been a great source to clarify many question.
Hello Bianca! , I just finished reading your post and I think I disagree with you on one point which is the pansexual type of sex. What I believe in is that being pansexual is being interested in intelligence rather than sex. That doesn’t mean these types of people with pansexual sexual orientation don’t like either sex: men or women, but they are more concerned and interested in whether they are intelligent or not. This term is still new for me therefore I’m still doing research about it to understand it more.
I too enjoyed the article about the differences in sexuality. I like that we were even provided with one and that it was part of our class. However, I do wish these thoughts and ideas were thought in Sex-Ed. That way different sexualities can be normalized and not judged. I also think it’s weird in a funny way, ironic really, how we even learn all this in college and it’s to kind of free our ideas and way of thinking. Challenging what we each see as a norm when it can simply be a norm if this teaching was extended to developing adults to understand more of their own identity and not feel ostracized in their community.
I loved how she broke down what a feminist really is. We are with men, not against them. The more they know, the closer we are to ending the patriarchy. The article clarified a lot for me regarding gender and I love how I was able to learn new terms and their meanings.
