Hello ! My name is Jazmine I am a Liberal Arts major, a sophomore at BMCC , and my last semester with BMCC. (If it works well for me ) I am turning 21 in May, I am a full time student and full time worker. I currently work for a hospital Mount Sinai and it can be very over whelming and frustrating when trying to balance school and work. On my free time I’ve decided to read more books in a year, I recently read “Where the Crowdads Sing” by Delia Owens 10/10 great book! I am currently now reading ” They Both Die in the End” by Adam Silvera. This year I want to have more goals such as being more organized with things and manage my time better, (in which any advice is would be great). As a liberal arts major I’ve been deciding on changing my major to Criminal Justice or Social Work due to my experiences. I’ve been working in medical fields since I started working and decided helping people is something I enjoy doing and still trying to find a passion within Criminal Justice and Social work. I am taking this course because I want to learn more about gender and women. In today’s world this is a big topic and I’m interested in having a deeper understanding and perspective.

“Where the Crawdads Sing” is an EXCELLENT book. I loved it and got my sister and mother to read it too. I also enjoy reading for pleasure. I am glad you are taking this course to broaden your perspective – that’s what it’s here for!
Becoming more organized is also a goal of mine. As a criminal justice major, I love it and become more passionate as I take up more classes. Im going to take a look at “Where the Crawdads Sing”! Having a deeper understanding is one of the many reasons I chose this class too. I hope you find a major you’re truly passionate about.
As a part time student I need to be more organized as a person. Will you ever consider getting a different job that’s not in a hospital? I’m also in the same boat as you I’m trying to find a major that I’m truly going to be passionate about and do it for the better and not for the money.
This new job I’m currently in isn’t really in the hospital just more in the medical path. I thought possibly being a counselor or a career that generally let’s me help people in someway. I also agree, I want a job that I can be passionate about, the money is just the bonus!
Hi Jazmine. I too work full time as well as do full time school. It becomes hectic at time and frustrating but when u push through it is so rewarding especially after receiving good grades. I too love serving my community. I am currently a case worker, and it is very self-rewarding. Thanks for sharing a little about yourself and I hope you have a great semester.
Hi Jazmine,
Nice to meet you. Good to know you are working for Mount Sinai Health System. Which department do you work for? Social work is a good choice. Hospitals and other facilities need more social workers. I choose this class also because it sounds very interesting, and I am hoping to soak up as much information I can get. Hope up have a nice semester.
HI, I am currently working for the urology department it could be a bit hectic and way too personal but anything to help others 🙂
Hi Jazmine,
I can definitely sympathize with you, I struggle with time management and I am a huge procrastinator! My goal is to try my best to get things done as soon as I get them….so far, I’ve made some improvements. I think that now the key is to maintain them. I’m also really impressed by the work that you do, and your interest. I wish you the best on all of your endeavors.
Hi Jazmine ,
I can totally understand your struggle with time management and organization. I used to be one of those students that would shove all the paperwork I received in one folder. One thing that has totally helped me was buying a white board calendar and hanging it on the wall right in front of my desk where I do all my work to keep track of all my assignments and their due dates and also my exams. Hope this helps!
