the suffrage , labor and equal right amendment are all related in a similar way, examples are the suffrage amendment was passed because women had no right to vote, same with the labor right this was a huge part because of the incident in the triangle shirtwaist factory that had killed 146 workers because proper precaution was not taken to ensure the safety of those women, lastly the equal right was also proposed to make sure that both sex had equal right which brings us back to the right to vote, this law was passed because us women did not have any rights and when we did we were not protected and still not. I believe that labor right is a matter of gender because if we look at what had happened to those women in that factory that is a prime example as to why gender plays a big role, women are always overlooked and never cared for, we are ignored till we fight. some women are also not paid as much as men or have the same rights as men in the workplace also lets look at how some women are not given full maternity leave or none at all, some are required to come back to work three days after given birth and ya don’t think this is a gender thing? I mean there’s only one sex thats able to giver birth. many women were forced to stay home and not do anything till women fought really hard to be equal and till then women were not protected and still not till this day, men are still earning more than women. looking back at the factory fire that situation could’ve been prevented but since were didn’t even have rights back then the owners didn’t care enough to provide a safe environment for those girls back then. lastly I see this historical issues enacted today this way, in 2019 Virginia was one of the states to pass the ERA amendment which give equal rights to both sex, this is something that still very much an issue till this day because just not so long ago women were denied the right to an abortion and also women are still not given paid leave in some companies for maternity leaves or they are required to come back to work right away among other things. this issues are still much relevant and will continue to be if we don’t fight back.

I like how you made a present day connection with maternity leave. I believe companies who still don’t allow maternity leave are a huge part of the problem and play a role in discrimination against women. We are constantly overlooked and if the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory had male workers instead, I believe there would’ve been safer work conditions. The wage gap between men and women has always been an issue for me! I don’t understand how a man and a women can be working in the same position, but the man is being paid more. Glad you brought that point up.
Hi Sheena ,
I enjoyed reading your response. I find it very astonishing how women before have fought to be paid equally and fair for the work they were producing and till this day women still get paid less than men. It’s sad how we always have to try TWICE as hard just to be acknowledged and accepted in many work environments. Many incidents like the triangle shirtwaist factory have happened around the world and governments still don’t implement workers rights.
Hello Sheena,
I must say that your response was very interesting. I liked how you were able to locate instances from both the past and the present. Excellent work!!!
