I would think that this discussion board would be easier to write but honestly found myself having a difficult time deciding on what to write. I always wanted to study social sciences and even plan on becoming a forensic psychologist so when I saw this class I was so eager to take it because I am a feminist. This class has taught me a lot and shifted my perspective. Every reading that we have done so far in this class have been very interesting and informative and have even recommended them to friends of mine that have similar interests like me. However my favorite weeks are when we have to watch something. For example my favorite was last week when we were given different documentaries and had to choose between which we would want to watch and explain what it was about. Ive found multiple of the readings interesting because it has opened my eye to a lot of different perspectives. Even though I am a woman I do not experience the same hardships from a black woman. I find it interesting to read writing that explain from different perspectives because I can learn about a different woman’s life. This made me realize I have way more privilege than I think I do. Even though women have come so far we still are suffering from set backs that our governments do to us.

I totally feel like you on the not knowing what to write, I contemplated way longer then I imagined! I’m also studying to become a forensic psychologist. Seeing the privilege we have over others especially other women due to things like our race, social class is definitely upsetting to see.
Hi Melanie!
I too have found the many readings provided in this class to be informative and eye opening. Although I believe we all had an understanding of what it means to be a feminist, we have been exposed to many good readings and materials that better our knowledge and understandings. As you stated, although we are all women and all experience some hardships, unfortunately, there are some that experience even MORE hardships than others due to their, for example, ethnicities or sexualities. I hope we continue to be active in allowing women to feel more safe and content with who they are in society and create better equal opportunities.
hey Melanie, I want to say that I am too studying something similar to you which is psychology and I wanted to learn more about women and their experiences as well. there are a lot of women in my family but unfortunately, they do not believe in feminism in fact they think women are below men which I think is unfair to think that way, anyways I wanted to hear from other women their experiences and this class has taught me that because of many brave women in history I am where I am today which I’m so grateful for. and yes I agree I was unsure on what to write but I know this is gonna be a safe space no matter what.
Hi Melanie,
I too want to be a Forensic Psychologist. I have been so shocked by the amount of people I recently heard wants to become a Forensic Psychologist. I always thought I was the only one. Last week was also my favorite discussion to write. This class is very good for women like us to feel empowered and aware of this necessary movements that are taking place all over the world.
I just had this issue on not knowing what to write for this free-writing exercise and it is so comforting to see you, Melanie, and other people in the comments below your post had the same issue as well. The visual representations have also been my favorite aspect of this class since I am able to vividly picture the past in our present. I feel as if the videos stick out more to me than the readings because you kind of cannot just refute the evidence in front of you, especially for the videos on the Suffrage Movement. They also tend to just digress better in the brain than the complex readings. I have found myself emotionally stricken when watching the videos and feeling as if I am witnessing these experiences firsthand.
I’ve loved being in this class learning about women and their experiences
Hi Melanie!
I feel like we were all stuck on what to write! Lol. You did a great job though. I too think we had aa lot of great reads so far.
Hi Melanie,
I was too having a little bit of trouble picking on what to write about but I enjoyed reading this weeks discussion post.
Hello Melanie,
I also thought It be easy task to do but if I’m honest I didn’t know what to write. It was nice hearing your perspective. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Melanie!
I completely agree with you, I feel that each of the readings has been very interesting and informative, which has helped a lot and given me new knowledge about many things.
