Isaiah Introduction

  • Hello Everyone, My name is Isaiah Alicea. I go by by the pronouns of He, Him, His. I’m a liberal arts major at BMCC. This will be my final semester (Hurray!) I was born and raised in Harlem but currently my mind is in Puerto Rico where everything is warmer.
In my professional world I am an Assistant Program Director for a community center in the uptown Manhattan area. I have interest in many things but mostly the Art & Community engagement. My focus is to utilize art as a way to engage community with the goal to evolve them. I’m taking this class because I simply find it interesting. I am excited to explore the intersection between race and gender. I don’t have many suggestions for material that would be helpful but I do think that the book “Bad Feminist” is a very insightful read as it pertains to women’s perspective to the world.

I love this, Isaiah. I also really believe in art-based methods for empowering people. You learn so much when you create something. What org do you work with? I live in upper manhattan. And yes, Bad Feminist is great! I’m glad you’ve encountered it.

Hey Isaiah, congratulations on your last semester! My mind is definitely somewhere warmer also. Bad feminist is a great read. I was born in the Bronx but always liked Harlem for its culture. Is there anything specific you hope to learn about gender studies? I hope we can engage In different topics together throughout the semester.

    Hello Isaiah,
It always a good feeling when you can have people engaging with each other and learning about their community. The way the world is, we need to embrace each other but t the same time, we need to be safe. Bad feminist sounds very interesting, I need to read it. I felt the same way when my advisor told me about this class. I am hoping to enjoy it. Professor Waychoff sounds like she will make it very interesting for us. Hope you have an awesome semester.
