I was deeply moved by your ted talk “we should be all be feminists” because day by day I am pushing through to major in nursing and become a RN and prove my dad’s family wrong because they believe woman are supposed to stay home and only men should work. In ecuador if you are poor you cant afford education which is why they believe that woman should say home. I totally disagree with this because woman are worth more than just stay at home mom’s we have the right of having an education and having a job. When it comes to the concept of gender it’s about how we should be rather than recognizing how we are, and thats the hard gender role that affects both men and women. Gender equality is not just a female problem but a world issue.

I totally agree with adichie because we should all be feminists due to the fact that not only does it empower women to have equal opportunities and treatment but also empowers men to be more truthful to their needs and emotions. A men should not be worried about being judged only if they cry it doesn’t make them less men. Feminism to me is that all genders have equal right in social, economic, and political views.

I consider myself feminist because both woman and men should have the same amount of power when it comes to the political, social, and economic aspects. We are all one despite if we are a men or women. This reminds me of the time my family had dinner and my mom told me to wash the dishes I asked her if my brother could wash the plates instead of me because I was tired and my brother was fine with it. But my dad got man and said that i had to wash them because men are not suppose to do house chore that’s what the women are for. My brother got upset and tough my dad a lesson that both men and women should have the equal amount of chores around the house.

Finally, I would like to reference Adichie’s ted talk titled “The Danger of a Single Story” the concept of a single sided story can shape how we view someone or something.

Dear Ms. Adichie, My name is Kimberly Yascaribay, I am currently a freshman at Borough of Manhattan Community College.
