EDS 201 Adolescent Development
EDS 201 – Artifact 1- Cognitive Processing with Tinkering
Students will complete an activity on tinkering for this EDS 201 Adolescent Development Course . 1a. Students will collaborate in tinkering sessions and identify 4 components of Computational Thinking
Pattern Recognition: identifying trends in developmental data from observations, Abstraction- generalizing and synthesizing information about developmental factors, Decomposition- breaking down behavior into specific developmental areas This hands-on approach empowers students to use their voices and digital tools to champion the well-being and rights of all children.
Part 1
1.Look through the slide deck blow- included in this slide deck is an entire lesson on tinkering for computation thinking and cognitive processing
Cognitive Processing assignment
Review the self-reflection assignment you just submitted. Answer the 5 questions listed in the PowerPoint video lecture “Computer Integrated Thinking and Cognitive Processing” on slide 7. Type the answers below:
Write your algorithm of exactly how the children at your fieldwork solved a problem. Make sure to use at least 3 computational thinking terms (decomposition/ abstraction-for example) and at least 3 cognitive processing terms (selective attention, rehearsal, elaboration, for example). Make sure to include details of both what the children do (how they use materials-their movements and body language) and what they say. Make sure the steps are clear to anyone reading them.
