Teach more, grade less

This is about my whole ungrading thing. It relates to disposable assignments that we’re reading about but also is about respecting the students, trusting them to direct themselves to some extent. And it also tries to get rid of our busy work. If I’m taking a lot of time at the end of the semester to grade papers that the students will never look at again, then I’m just talking to myself. My focus is always on the student’s learning more than on evaluating them.
