{"id":265,"date":"2023-03-05T17:29:06","date_gmt":"2023-03-05T22:29:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/openlab.bmcc.cuny.edu\/sloves\/?p=265"},"modified":"2023-03-05T17:29:06","modified_gmt":"2023-03-05T22:29:06","slug":"elvis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/openlab.bmcc.cuny.edu\/sloves\/2023\/03\/05\/elvis\/","title":{"rendered":"ELVIS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I feel like I have lost count of the Elvis biopics and I was hopeful.\u00a0 Baz has a visual style that can make anything interesting.\u00a0 Unfortunately, he choose not use his touch in the slightest.\u00a0 Its as if Lubitsch decided to make a remake of an Andy Hardy or a Ma and Pa Kettle movie and left the original in tact.\u00a0 No Lubitsch touch\u2026 No Baz touch.\u00a0 So this film takes the prize for biggest disappointment.\u00a0 The performances were spectacular &#8212; Elvis and Tom were well played, but this is hagiography\u00a0not a bio pick.\u00a0 Can we at least put a little responsibility on Elvis for his choices.\u00a0 I have no doubt that Parker was an evil bastard that encouraged his drug abuse, but by the end, the only two people Elvis trusted were Tom Parker and Richard Nixon.\u00a0  At some point you have to take responsibility for your choices.\u00a0 Elvis pimping for Nixon broke my hear.
