I want to ask you a question: do you think the gap between the rich and the poor (or the unequal distribution of wealth) should exist? Many people will quickly say no, this is a personal idea or consensus. For such a huge problem, the influence of personal consciousness may be negligible, but through the contact in real life, we will know that many people have the same vague ideas as us, that is to say, this kind of consciousness or cognition is common. But I tell you, some people think that the gap between the rich and the poor is mainly caused by the gap of human ability, and the gap between the rich and the poor is reasonable. The key difference between the two viewpoints is that for some people, the ideal society should not have an uneven distribution of wealth, while in the ideal society of the other people, the gap between rich and poor is reasonable and can make society more active. Therefore, there are differences between ideologies, but they all describe some of the characteristics of what they think of as an ideal society. Should the gap between the rich and the poor exist? We would say that it should not exist-is there a gap between the rich and the poor now there is a problem that should not exist why does it exist now, what should we do-eliminate the gap between the rich and the poor-how to eliminate it? But you may soon realize that personal strength is not enough, so you need to gather people with the same ideas as you to reach your consensus. As a result, you were gathered together, and other people with different ideas from yours also began to gather. Therefore, ideology has a great ability to mobilize.

I don’t want to explain “Left” and “Right” starting from the French Revolution. Regardless of conservative and liberal, the root of the difference between them comes from different assumptions about the way of social development. Liberals or those who insist on liberal views believe that people can change the world. Conservatives believe that people should conform to the laws of the development of the world. Liberalism that emphasizes the role of human beings shows secularity, while conservatism that emphasizes conformity to laws is more religious. It is worth mentioning that some of the propositions of these two terms are contrary to the perception of most people in today’s society. Liberalism supports big government and believes in government regulation. It insists that the government’s guidance of the economy can have a positive effect. Conservatism insists on small government, believing that the government only needs to maintain the order of the country and the market. The most typical example is Roosevelt’s New Deal. In the face of the Great Depression in the United States, the liberal president promulgated a large number of laws to stimulate the economy, hoping to get out of the predicament through policy intervention in the economy. Conservatives believe that the market has an invisible hand and should be determined by the laws of the market.

Workers come to work every day not only because of lack of money but also because of their own cognition and willingness. They have determined that they can only survive through work. They have been domesticated into the screws of the social machine, and they are powerless. To change this structure, one can only go on silently according to the established rules. This thought is not built into the workers’ brains but implanted in the social thought system. This is ideology.

In my opinion, ideology is “consciousness, concept, judgment, and values” shared by a group, in other words, it is a collection of consensus or will of a group.
