In Wal-Mart v. Dukes, the Supreme Court decided that the group of 1.5 million female employees could not proceed together as a single class action lawsuit which meant that each woman would have to bring their case individually rather than as part of one large class-action. The Court justified its decision based on the legal requirement of \u201ccommonality\u201d which means that everyone\u00a0 must have\u00a0 common problems and can be handled collectively in a single lawsuit.
