The reading explains that social class is based on things like how much money people make, the jobs they have, and where they live. In my area, a lot of people work in stores, restaurants, or service jobs, and everyone is just trying to pay the high rent and bills in the city.

I am not surprised by this at all. When you walk around the neighborhood, you see a lot of apartment buildings and local shops, and you can tell most people work hard for their money. For example, you see neighbors heading out early in the morning for long shifts or working multiple jobs just to support their families, which matches what the reading says about lower-income classes having less financial security and fewer extra resources.

But I also feel like the reading’s description doesn’t show the whole picture. While the class and income levels match what the reading talks about, numbers and charts don’t show how close the neighbors are or how much people care for each other. There is a strong sense of community here where people look out for one another, share local news, and help out when someone is having a hard time. So, while it is true on paper in terms of income and jobs, it misses the real heart and strength of the people living here.

I am not surprised by this at all.
