{"id":56,"date":"2023-04-25T15:10:37","date_gmt":"2023-04-25T19:10:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/openlab.bmcc.cuny.edu\/open-knowledge-commons\/?p=56"},"modified":"2023-04-27T11:04:59","modified_gmt":"2023-04-27T15:04:59","slug":"june-2023-teaching-on-the-bmcc-openlab","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/openlab.bmcc.cuny.edu\/open-knowledge-commons\/2023\/04\/25\/june-2023-teaching-on-the-bmcc-openlab\/","title":{"rendered":"June 2023 &#8211; Teaching on the BMCC OpenLab"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>We invite you to join a growing number of colleagues who are discovering the joy of teaching on the <a href=\"https:\/\/openlab.bmcc.cuny.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">BMCC OpenLab<\/a>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Teaching and learning on open platforms such as the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/openlab.bmcc.cuny.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">OpenLab<\/a> offers liberatory opportunities for both faculty and students in a space that encourages creativity and community. In this learning community, faculty will join a growing movement in <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Open_education\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">open education<\/a> that embraces teaching in the open. Participants may draw on the example of colleagues across the disciplines who already offer courses on the BMCC OpenLab (see <a href=\"https:\/\/openlab.bmcc.cuny.edu\/english-201-introduction-to-literature-spring-2022-conway\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">English<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/openlab.bmcc.cuny.edu\/bus-104-1800-intro-to-business-professor-buckler-fall-2021\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Business<\/a>). In small cohorts with learning designer and faculty mentors, participants will create a WordPress website for one of their courses using the OpenLab, and explore the possibilities for students to co-create learning experiences.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Asynchronous activities, such as creating a site map of your course, will complement Zoom sessions held on<strong> Tuesdays (June 6, 13, 20, 27) and Thursdays (June 8, 15, 22, 29), 9:00am-10:30am. <\/strong>Meetings will continue throughout the summer on dates to be determined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Apply by 12pm on Tuesday, May 9<\/strong>, using this<strong> <\/strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/ryi93caedYXtSXM99\" target=\"_blank\">application form<\/a>.
