Your website must include the following items:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A showcase of your multimedia and art projects done in BMCC and elsewhere. You can include other types of assignments, such as an essay, if relevant to your future job search.<\/li>\n<li>A description or explanation of each work presented<\/li>\n<li>A paragraph introducing yourself and summarizing your professional goals<\/li>\n<li>Contact information or contact form<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><a id=\"user-content-the-work-process\" class=\"anchor\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/bmcc-mmp\/mmp460-1\/blob\/master\/assignments\/portfolio.md#the-work-process\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/a>Work Process<\/h3>\n<p><strong>STEP 1: s<\/strong>elect an Internet host.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Some no-code solutions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/openlab.bmcc.cuny.edu\">BMCC Open Lab<\/a> (free)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.com\/\">WordPress.com<\/a> (free)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wix.com\/website\/templates\/html\/design\/portfolio\">Wix<\/a> (free)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.squarespace.com\/templates\/portfolio\">Squarespace.com<\/a> (free)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/portfolio.adobe.com\">Adobe Portfolio<\/a>\u00a0(free with any CC subscription)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>If you know your HTML\/CSS you can code your own portfolio site and host it free on <a href=\"https:\/\/pages.github.com\/\">Github Pages \u00a0<\/a>(as long as it does not need server-side technology).\u00a0<\/strong>This will also serve to showcase your coding skills!<\/p>\n<p><strong>STEP 2: <\/strong>planning and content development<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Consider the following questions<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>What are your immediate professional goals? In other words, what kind of job or assignment do you hope this website will help you get?<\/li>\n<li>Do you plan to continue your studies after graduating from BMCC? Does the program you plan to attend require a portfolio for admission? What kind of work they want to see in a portfolio?<\/li>\n<li>How will you introduce yourself professionally? a web designer? a programmer? a graphic designer?<\/li>\n<li>How many projects do you have? How many of them you deem good enough to include in the portfolio?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong>Organize your site\u2019s content<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Select the work that you would like to showcase in the portfolio.<\/li>\n<li>Decide how to organize your work on the site. For example, by type (websites, print, paintings, drawings etc.), by skill (design, development), by software (Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash).<\/li>\n<li>Consider writing at least one case study of one of your work. <a href=\"https:\/\/uxplanet.org\/4-tips-for-structuring-case-studies-in-your-design-portfolio-f7436fd460ec\">Read here about case studies<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Decide what to showcase on homepage.
