Don&#8217;t forget to include the author of the quote in the piece. You may only use <strong>typography<\/strong>and\/or\u00a0<strong>vector shapes <\/strong>(no character). Use at least <strong>1 Effect<\/strong>, and <strong>1 Mask or Track Matte<\/strong>.\u00a0Your animation should also have\u00a0<strong>sound <\/strong>(music, sfx and\/or spoken word).<\/p>\n<p>Your choice of fonts, colors, shapes, layout and the pacing of the animation are crucial in engaging the viewer &#8211; consider all these elements carefully.<\/p>\n<p>The project will be divided into several steps. It is crucial that you complete each one by the stated deadline.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The grading rubric for the entire project can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/13Pr-znkiD3vAMeEJ9p8-aQZ8L_4EZw0E2uOuh_YoJOc\/edit?usp=sharing\">here<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1 \u2013 Choice of quote + storyboard\u00a0<\/strong><em>(due on week 10)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Choose your quote! You may pick a line from your favorite song, book, poem or look for inspiration on a quotes website<a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/quotes\">like this one<\/a>). For example:<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><em>\u201cThe past is always tense, the future perfect.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><em>\u2015\u00a0<\/em><em>Zadie Smith<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Create a storyboard for your animated quote. Use\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1F4Mk3GiAKl6UNjE4-qk81a5LsJ-y4zQc\/view?usp=sharing\">this template<\/a>. Make sure you include all the information needed to clearly outline your plan:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In the panel: Letters\/words, movement within the frame, camera movement, colors.<\/li>\n<li>Under the panels: Sound effects and \/or music, description (clarify anything that may not be obvious from what you drew in the panel)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The length of your storyboard will depend on the number of words in the quote and the overall mood\/pacing you want to create (i.e: something very energetic\/fast paced vs. meditative\/mellow). You\u2019ll probably need at least 6 panels. If you have more than 20, you might be overly ambitious for the time you have to complete this project. Remember:\u00a0you may only use typography and vector shapes (no character), and should include at least 1 Effect, and 1 Mask or Track Matte.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Deliverables\u00a0(on Blackboard):\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Your animation should be at least 70% complete. Submit your .aep file.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Step 3 &#8211; Completed animation with sound and presentation <\/strong><em>(due on week 12)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Add sound effects and or music to your animation. Use sound to enhance your piece (i.e: make the actions of your character clearer\/more dramatic, to add emotion, humor etc.).\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/freesound.org\/\">Freesound.org<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/freesound.org\/\">\u00a0<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/details\/audio\">Internet Archive: Audio Archive,\u00a0<\/a>and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/search.creativecommons.org\/\">Creative Commons tracks on SoundCloud<\/a>\u00a0are good resources for CC licensed audio.<\/p>\n<p>Finalize your animation and export it to Quicktime.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/289119426\">https:\/\/vimeo.com\/289119426<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Deliverables\u00a0(on Blackboard):\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Completed animation in Quicktime format (.mov)<\/li>\n<li>Finished .aep file in CC14 version<\/li>\n<li>Any Photoshop\/Illustartor files used in After Effects (if applicable)<\/li>\n<li>A short statement (use\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1n7zz-44d2okHYZVw08IkO_apD77OSpBAeEj96suxy8s\/edit?usp=sharing\">this template<\/a>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each student must come to class and present his\/her work.
