{"id":300,"date":"2020-08-23T19:46:56","date_gmt":"2020-08-23T19:46:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/openlab.bmcc.cuny.edu\/mmp260-1300-intro-2d-animation-fall-2020\/?page_id=300"},"modified":"2020-08-23T20:12:48","modified_gmt":"2020-08-23T20:12:48","slug":"flour-sack-assignment","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/openlab.bmcc.cuny.edu\/mmp260-1300-intro-2d-animation-fall-2020\/flour-sack-assignment\/","title":{"rendered":"Flour Sack Assignment"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>Pick\u00a0<strong>one<\/strong>\u00a0of the following expressions and apply it to a\u00a0<strong>flour sack<\/strong>:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>sad \u2013 happy \u2013 proud \u2013 shy \u2013 anxious \u2013 frightened \u2013 tired \u2013 confused \u2013 surprised \u2013 excited<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Use the principles we covered in our bouncing ball exercises to give your object personality.\u00a0<strong>NO eyes, mouth, or other facials features allowed<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 the expression must be conveyed through movement.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Draw a few key poses<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0before starting to animate to get familiar with the sack\u2019s design\u00a0(you can use paper or your favorite drawing app).<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Act out<\/strong>\u00a0the emotion yourself and take note of your body language \u2013 which parts of your body change when you are sad\/shy\/tired etc? Are your movements fast, slow, tentative, assured etc.?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>As usual, apply the\u00a0<strong>12 principles<\/strong>\u00a0of animation.<\/p>\r\n<h2>Submission<\/h2>\r\n<p>When you have completed your flour sack animation, save it as an fla and export it as a video file. Upload your video to Vimeo or YouTube. Add a post to the Flour Sack Discussion Board.
