Rewards

Rewards typically just hover up and down until collected from cherries which explode into fire works when you touch them, water token which splashes down when collected, and sun tokens which glow and pop.

Background

My background is just a forest with flames in the background and in front of that bushes that havent quite been reached by the flames yet but have a subtle glow from them

NPC fire sprite “sprite” (hah get it?) I has two i liked the black outline made it feel much more cartoony but the orange outline gave it a bit more aesthetic to it.

Character animation

This was my lil shadow slime character
Its idle animation sprite, moving animation sprite, jumping, death, hurt, and talking animatiion sprites

Game rewards (edited)

Since my character is a mushroom, I thought it would be good to make a rotten apple as a reward. In the beginning, I thought about making the reward some fertilized soil, but the apple seemed to be a better idea from a design perspective.

I wanted to stick with the idea of the heart representing an extra life just because it’s cute.

Tilesets and Platform

I added the tiles that can be used as a 2D platformer with basic tiles and the file set for a simple 2D platformer.

The tiles represent a lavender field.

Character Design

Traxex (left) is my favorite hero from Dota because of her dark aesthetic. Most of the time, heroes embody good things; in games, light colors are used for the characters to capture that. Traxex could be seen as a villain, which is why I love her even more.

Lulu (middle) is one of my mains in League of Legends. I love her versatile style; she can be cute or frightening.

Super Mushroom (right) has a simple, cute, and impactful design.

The Super Mushroom inspired me, and I thought it would be a good idea to make something similar.

I’ve tried to make different variations of Fungi and capture her personality. She is very curious, optimistic but can be very naive.

Because of her naivety, she ended up being poisoned and turned into an evil mushroom.

Scenery

The scenery I decided to create is a glowing tavern sign, a street light, and a cloud of smoke along with parallax green clouds in the sky.

Obstacles and Enemies

For this portion I wanted to keep the aesthetic of the characters cohesive so the enemies are robots as well called “Cyrex” and I made little triangular obstacles.

Cyrex idle.
Cyrtex walking.
When Cyrex attacks he darkens and is overheating.
When defeated, Cyrex head drops and is set to ‘offline mode’.
Random obstacle
The obstacle and enemy are on the platforms waiting for JR to pass through.
