{"id":1016,"date":"2021-11-19T14:30:05","date_gmt":"2021-11-19T18:30:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/openlab.bmcc.cuny.edu\/media-arts-and-technology\/?p=1016"},"modified":"2022-04-15T13:53:28","modified_gmt":"2022-04-15T17:53:28","slug":"vat-spring-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/openlab.bmcc.cuny.edu\/media-arts-and-technology\/vat-spring-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"VAT Majors Spring 2022 Registration Update"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This information is for Video Arts and Technology (VAT) majors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Course Modality: In Person and Online<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In a change from Fall 2021, most courses will be offered in-person in Spring 2022. As of now CUNY has mandated that 70% of our courses are in person. This means you may not be able to take all of your courses online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Proof of Vaccination for In Person Classes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The TLDR is get vaccinated and submit documentation to CUNYfirst or you will not be able to a) attend in person classes and b) enter the building for services like tutoring, checking out equipment etc.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyone attending in person classes in Spring 2022 will be required have uploaded proof of vaccination to CUNYfirst. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you do not do this, the system will allow you to register for in person classes, but <strong>you will be dropped from those classes closer to the start of the semester (in January)<\/strong>. We will offer VAT 161: TV Studio 1 in spring 2022. Registration is open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Study Labs Spring 2022<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Computer labs will be available for you to use during spring 2022. The number of labs and the process for using them will be posted closer to the start of the semester. <strong>Remember that any student entering the building will need to have uploaded proof of vaccination to CUNYfirst.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Internships<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want to take the internship class, <strong>MEA 371 Media Arts and Technology<\/strong> <strong>Internship<\/strong>, then you will need to register on <strong>Career Express<\/strong> and attend an <strong>Internship Information Session<\/strong>. The Office of Internships and Experiential Learning registers you. You can\u2019t register yourself on CUNYfirst. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-accent-1-color has-text-color\"><em>NOTE: You can&#8217;t register for MEA 371 Internship in CUNYfirst. Flyers attached for ANI 360 and MMP 270. The MEA courses count differently for each major.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" id=\"block-d4a32e91-70cc-4ca7-974a-7ba751e70252\"><li><strong>ANI 360 2D Animation Projects<\/strong>: you will use industry standard 2D animation software to make original animations in traditional hand-drawn animation as well as cutout and stop-motion animation.<ul><li>requires you have already taken MMP 260 or ANI 260. <a href=\"https:\/\/openlab.bmcc.cuny.edu\/media-arts-and-technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/395\/2020\/11\/newAniCourse.pdf\">view PDF flyer<\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><strong>MMP 270 Introduction to Video Game Design<\/strong>: Topics include Principles of Game Design, basic programming, graphics and animation, sound design, publishing and distribution.<ul><li>requires MMP flyer<\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Winter 2022 Tuition Waivers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eligible Students Must Register by December 1<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>BMCC offers two tuition waivers for the Winter 2022 session starting January 3.&nbsp;Both cover $210 per credit for degree-related&nbsp;courses,&nbsp;and eligible&nbsp;students must register&nbsp;by December 1.&nbsp;The waivers <strong>do not cover&nbsp;fees and materials such as textbooks.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information,&nbsp;students&nbsp;can&nbsp;contact the Academic Advisement and Transfer Center at&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:aatc@bmcc.cuny.edu?subject=Tuition%20Waivers\">aatc@bmcc.cuny.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are two types of waivers<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Petrie Completion Waiver<\/strong><ol><li>To be eligible you can only &nbsp;have three (3) or fewer courses left to complete your degree.<\/li><li>If you&#8217;re eligible then any course that counts for your degree can have the tuition waiver (up to one course in summer 1 and one course in summer 2.<\/li><\/ol><\/li><li><strong>STEM Waiver<\/strong><ol><li>This applies only to STEM courses. <\/li><li>It is only for NYC residents and US citizens or permanent residents.<\/li><li>It must be one of the listed courses below and count for your major.<ol><li>Any Math Course<\/li><li>Any Computer Science Course (CSC or CIS designated)<\/li><li>One of these two you need for your major: <strong>MEA 201<\/strong>, <strong>MMP 100<\/strong><\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow
