MEA 300: Tools of the Trade

3 credits
Fridays 10am-1:40pm at GPS, Yonkers

Course Description
Explore the tools, techniques, and technology of modern film lighting, emphasizing the gaffer’s role and the collaborative work of the lighting department, including comprehensive safety training for film sets, both stage and on-location.

MEA 300 can count in your degree requirements in a few different places (i.e. for VAT majors, as a Program Elective, Advised Elective, or General Elective; to be worked out with a faculty advisor.)

MEA 371: Internship

2 credits
Flexible days/times, 7 hrs/week at GPS, Yonkers
Course Description
This hands-on internship rotates teaching assistantships at Robert Halmi Sr. Academy of Film and TV with on-site equipment shop, costume shop, and studio management assistantships (possible on-set production work.)

Eligibility:

Open to all students in the VAT, ANI, or MMD Programs in the MEA Dept.

Students in other majors who have taken 1-2 VAT or ANI Production classes (such as VAT 161, VAT 165, VAT 171) may also apply.
