Sports and rec specialists are part of site-based teams dedicated to implementing Healthy Harlem programming at respective sites and report to the health coordinator.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Essential Duties and Responsibilities&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u2022 Organize and lead daily physical activity for students&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2022 Promote <em>physical literacy<\/em>; the motivation, confidence, physical competence, knowledge, and understanding to value and take responsibility for engagement in physical activities for life&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u2022 Incorporate sports, games, and a variety of other unique and exciting activities in a positive, fun environment&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2022 Adapt activities to creatively engage children with various skill sets and interests&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2022 Implement physical activities in a variety of settings, including small classrooms, cafeteria, and gymnasium&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2022 Provide clear classroom instructions, including learning objectives and transitions&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2022 Provide consistent motivation, enthusiasm, and role modeling for healthy lifestyle choices&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2022 Gather height and weight measurements and facilitate PACER fitness test&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge Requirements&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u2022 Experience implementing physical activities in school-based, after-school, camp, and\/or community-based settings.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2022 Comfortable working in various urban settings and with diverse populations&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2022 Team-oriented with strong organizational and collaborative skills&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2022 Animated, energetic spirit and a positive, resilient attitude&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2022 Adapts well to changes in assignment and priorities with the ability to respond effectively to new information, changing conditions, and unexpected obstacles&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2022 Must be available to work after-school hours and evenings (2-7 p.m.) for a total of 20 hours per week, as well as attend trainings on the second Thursday of every month, 12-2 p.m.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2022 Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The compensation range for this position is $25-$30 per hour.
