My name is Shanice Peters. I am 19 years old and this is my second year at BMCC. My pronouns are she\/her. To be honest, I don\u2019t like Bmcc, so far my experience has been a never-ending list of horrible professors. I received my first F in college last semester and I was feeling down about it. Especially since it was out of my control. Nevertheless, I was not going to let one F keep me down any longer. I cried about it but now I am ready to kill education with my brilliance. I believe one of my best qualities is that I am known as a social butterfly, who comes home to be alone just to listen to music in my thoughts. I love to engage in interesting conversations and make others laugh. Someone once told me \u201c Shanice if you don\u2019t become a comedian then I don\u2019t know\u201d Music is probably the best thing humans ever created. It tells stories of people who go through hard times or good times. It is like therapy for not only the mind but the soul. My life long dream has always been to become a Nurse Practitioner. Especially for children and mothers. Which brings me to Bmcc and to this class here today. GWS 100 is one of the courses I need to be one step closer to becoming a nurse practitioner. I am not familiar with gender women studies, however I hope to learn more about the study of women. How we think, why we think the way we do, the importance of what makes a woman, etc. I\u2019m more of a visual learner, very hands-on down and dirty type of gyal. I don\u2019t believe I am the smartest person but if I keep a positive attitude and work hard, I can be on the level of whoever the smartest person is. I also want to major in psychology and English. Growing up I\u2019ve had a passion for creative writing and writing poetry. I am currently in the process of writing my first ever poetry book. Becoming a therapist is kind of new to me. I enjoy listening to others speak when they feel like no one else hears them. I want others to have me as a listening ear.
