Font men, the casual optimist was very interesting indeed. I found it very interesting that the creation of typefaces was actually more important than the work itself sometimes. The use of typefaces and how to use them was more important than I originally thought. I also didn’t know it took about 19 people to work on a typeface. In Mike Langley, Sign Painter, I found it interesting that he likes everything old, not new. I didn’t realize that truck lettering and logos were painted on by these individuals. Everything was done by hand, which I found to be amazing. Dan Rhatigan on Ryman Eco claimed that we will always need new fonts and that companies look for that sort of thing. Typefaces have a personality that people react and respond to, which I found to be very interesting. After watching all these videos, I have learned that there’s a lot of work that goes into typography than I originally thought.
