Course Description

We take Introduction to Composition to learn to be effective and persuasive communicators. We write every day, for school, for work, in text, in emails, in the doctor’s office, to our landlords, to businesses, to our beloveds, to our friends, to our co-workers, for our children, our parents, grandparents, our communities, etc.

In short, writing is important in life, so let us use our time in this class to get better at saying what we want to say.

Note: This course will emphasize the dialects of Academic English and Standard American English so there will be considerations of the grammar rules that are used within those dialects as part of institutional learning outcomes. If you do not feel fluent in Academic English and/or Standard American English this does not mean you are a “bad” writer. We are in different phases of expanding how we speak and write. We are all here to learn and I am looking forward to learning from you.
