Jits-meet would be an open source alternative: https://jitsi.org/jitsi-meet/
I will still host tomorrow’s meeitg in zoom but perhaps we can have a group change over.

benjamin haasParticipantHere is another list of alternatives:
https://mayfirst.coop/en/post/2020/content-alternatives-live-meetings/
mumble: https://www.mumble.info/. (just voice chat)
jitsi-meet (https://support.mayfirst.org/wiki/web-conference) folx say it works best if you download the app (for desktop ios or android)I am also not in love with discord : https://www.tomsguide.com/us/help-me-toms-guide-discord-permissions,review-5104.html
(I know I set up all these tools, but I was seeking moving fast over security, and that was a mistake):I think Riot might be a good alternative: https://about.riot.im/

NatassiaParticipantI downloaded Discord from that very first time we met on Zoom I was wondering when we were going to make the switch. I strongly think we should take our meeting sessions there plus its so user friendly.

benjamin haasParticipanthey Natassia,
my thought about discord was that it would always be a place where folx could hang out between meetings because it is mostly a text and audio chat plat form, and it can run even when I amnot there. If folx want to move our conversations there I would be happy to, but think we should get some more voices in on this choice.
