I cannot take credit for this, but a colleague of mine compiled a list of local internet resources which we can share with students who may not have reliable wifi/data. Please feel free to share widely.
Several companies are offering free services for the next 60 days, meanwhile at least T-Mobile and AT&T (perhaps others, too) have waived data caps.

They are offering free access to Xfinity wifi hotspots. For a map of Xfinity WiFi hotspots, visit

They’re also offering 25mb service with free installation for the next two months. For new customers, applicants can simply visit The accessible website also includes the option to video chat with customer service agents in American Sign Language. There are also two dedicated phone numbers 1-855-846-8376 for English and 1-855-765-6995 for Spanish.

They are also offering their wifi hotspots for free. Here’s a map:

Charter will offer free Spectrum broadband and Wi-Fi access for 60 days to households with K-12 and/or college students who do not already have a Spectrum broadband subscription and at any service level up to 100 Mbps. To enroll call 1-844-488-8395. Installation fees will be waived for new student households.

Altice is also opening up their wifi hotspots, which includes AlticeWifi, optimumwifi, and cableWiFi:

For households with K-12 and/or college students who may be displaced due to school closures and who do not currently have home internet access, we are offering our Altice Advantage 30 Mbps broadband solution for free for 60 days to any new customer household within our footprint.

Starting Monday, March 16, 2020, eligible households interested in this solution can call:
