How do you overcome these challenges?<br><\/p><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>          As a nail artist who wants to one day open a salon and nail technology school, I am very interested in how businesses have come to be.  With Central Harlem being a very rich location of culture, businesses, and economy one can assume building a business here can&#8217;t be an easy feat. I want to learn, straight from salon owners, what their challenges were coming into such a rich location and how they overcame said challenges to be successful today.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/openlab.bmcc.cuny.edu\/faith-frazier-portfolio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2989\/2023\/03\/street-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-785\" srcset=\"https:\/\/openlab.bmcc.cuny.edu\/faith-frazier-portfolio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2989\/2023\/03\/street-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/openlab.bmcc.cuny.edu\/faith-frazier-portfolio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2989\/2023\/03\/street-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/openlab.bmcc.cuny.edu\/faith-frazier-portfolio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2989\/2023\/03\/street-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/openlab.bmcc.cuny.edu\/faith-frazier-portfolio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2989\/2023\/03\/street.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">125th St, New York, NY 10027<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>         Harlem, New York is a hot spot for the economy, business, and culture.\u00a0 Business in this location has been booming for quite some time, catering to the community and art.\u00a0 After Jim Crow, Black and Spanish people migrated to Harlem, New York for community, safety, and a neighborhood to live in.\u00a0 In Black culture, self expression by accessorizing is extremely sacred.\u00a0 After a long history of society, and the very country we live in, condemning anything Black, the Black community has continued to keep the beauty industry alive and even give birth to trends.\u00a0 The nail industry is no stranger to the Black influence and definitely flourishes in the city of Harlem.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/openlab.bmcc.cuny.edu\/faith-frazier-portfolio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2989\/2023\/04\/image.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-809\" width=\"553\" height=\"415\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>          The aim of this research is to learn about the process and overcoming of obstacles for the nail industry and its entrepreneurs.\u00a0 For years, entrepreneurs with a passion for nails have been able to contribute to their culture and community by opening nail salons.\u00a0 Nail salons populate the world, but they still have difficulties.\u00a0 What are the challenges nail salon businesses face in the community of Harlem?
