This poem is a passionate love letter to her husband where she expresses her feelings fully and without hesitation in a timeless way. In &#8220;How to Read a poem&#8221;, it is stated that to complete a poem, one needs to be imaginative, ask questions and look for literary devices within the piece. &#8220;<span class=\"long-line\">I love thee to the level of every day&#8217;s<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"long-line\">Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"long-line\">I love thee freely, as men strive for right.&#8221; (Browning, lines 5-7) Through <\/span>observing Browning&#8217;s use of narration, repetition, and metaphor, as well as applying it to my own experiences, I was able to picture the commitment and love that she had felt for her husband, that it was not just lust or puppy love, but a peaceful and strong connection she shared with him.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I chose to complete the poem, &#8220;How Do I Love Thee&#8221; by Elizabeth Barrett Browning, by taking what the writer had started and using it to fashion what they intended the ending to be.
