Over the course of this semester, you will be building a final thesis-driven research essay in two separate drafts. “Thesis-driven” means that the essay is focused on one clear central idea. This step-by-step process is sometimes known as “scaffolding.” Think of this assignment as a practice before you progress to the first draft. The assignment is to write one simple paragraph based on the following directions.
