Attendance at weekly class meetings is&nbsp;<strong>mandatory<\/strong>. Please check the Weekly Schedule carefully each week, so that you will know when we are meeting at BMCC (Room N792) and when we are meeting online (Zoom).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Class Expectations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Learning is a collaborative effort and a shared responsibility. To learn, you need to commit yourself to learning. Please do your best to balance your outside commitments so that you can succeed in this class. When you are in class, you need to be&nbsp;<strong>fully present and connected<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our hybrid class will include a weekly class meeting on Sunday, 11:00 AM \u2013 2:00 PM, with a 15-minute break.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Please check the <strong>Weekly Schedule<\/strong> for when we will meet face-to-face and when we will meet online.<\/li><li>The online component of this class is <strong>synchronous <\/strong>(meeting in real time).<\/li><li>Attendance is required at weekly class meetings, both face-to-face and online.<\/li><li>The 30-hour fieldwork seminar will be <strong>asynchronous<\/strong> (working independently on your own schedule). You must complete the seminar project and post it on BMCC Open Lab prior to that week\u2019s class.<\/li><li>Please complete all required readings and weekly assignments BEFORE SUNDAY, so that you will be prepared to participate and contribute to our class discussions.&nbsp; Assignments must be submitted <strong>no later than<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>Friday, 5:00 PM<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You are expected to&nbsp;<strong><em>actively engage<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;in the learning community of our online classroom.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><em>Participate<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;in discussions.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong><em>Listen<\/em><\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>actively and&nbsp;<strong><em>contribute<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;your knowledge and experience.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong><em>Complete<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;the readings and weekly assignments each week and&nbsp;<strong><em>submit<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;them on<strong> BMCC Open Lab<\/strong> prior to class.<\/li><li>If you have a question,&nbsp;<strong><em>please ask<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;(it is likely that everyone will benefit).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Everyone should be able to contribute during class sessions and in written posts, based on shared respect that the virtual classroom is a space where people have different world views, different levels of experience and different communication styles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Weekly Schedule<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The weekly schedule is posted under the heading <strong>About this Class <\/strong>on the course home page on <strong>BMCC Open Lab<\/strong>. The schedule includes important information about:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Class meetings (dates we will meet face-to-face and online)<\/li><li>Topic for each week\u2019s class<\/li><li>Assigned readings for each week<\/li><li>Due dates for <strong>Core Assignments:<\/strong><ul><li><strong>&nbsp;Culturally Responsive Teaching Essay<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><ul><li><strong>&nbsp;Learning Environments Project<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><ul><li><strong>Final Project: Curriculum Web, Activity Plan and Commentary<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Course Materials and Weekly Assignments<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Readings, videos, PPT presentations, weekly assignments, and seminar projects are organized into individual modules for each week, listed under the heading&nbsp;<strong>Course Materials and Weekly Assignments<\/strong>on the course home page on <strong>BMCC Open Lab<\/strong>.<\/li><li>In each module you will find multiple readings, videos, PPT presentations, weekly assignments and a seminar project.<\/li><li>Click on&nbsp;<strong>Course Materials and Weekly Assignments<\/strong>to see the modules for each week. When you click on a module, first read the weekly goals and objectives. Then click on each assignment to see the readings, videos, PPT presentations, assignments, and seminar project for the week.<\/li><li>For each weekly assignment and seminar project, you will create a post and publish it in the category for that assignment or project. Think about the questions and the format of your response.<\/li><li>To leave a comment on someone else\u2019s weekly assignment or seminar project, click \u201creply\u201d to that person\u2019s post. When responding to a colleague\u2019s post, think about how you can add, build upon, extend, or expand the original post.<\/li><li>Assignments in each weekly module should be completed no later than&nbsp;<strong>Friday 12:00 Noon, <\/strong>prior to that week\u2019s class.<\/li><li>Weekly assignments make up 15% of your coursework and seminar projects make up 25% of your coursework. Missing work will have a significant impact on your final grade.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Suggested Art Supplies<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This semester, as part of our hybrid class format, you will be working from home to complete many of the assignments for the seminar portion of our class.
