autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Your observation to be as detailed, descriptive and as non-judgmental (objective).\u00a0 This <a href=\"https:\/\/1drv.ms\/p\/s!Aj5el915Dy5egbgO_YIVy5aXZoJfkQ?e=SGiAhy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Power Point <\/a>\u00a0focuses on being a skilled observer.<\/p>\n<p>What to look for when watching the video:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Where the observation takes place? Describe the space in detail. Who was present?<\/li>\n<li>What the baby look like \u2013 hair, skin, facial features, body type, and clothing?<\/li>\n<li>What the baby does, in general, during your observation?<\/li>\n<li>What routines (eating, sleeping, toileting\/ diapering, bathing, playing, transitions, etc.) you observe the family engage in? What happens during the routines? How does the baby react?<\/li>\n<li>Pick sequential 4 segments of video that are about 2-3 minutes each \u2013 identify sections that have natural beginning and end points (do not stop in the middle of an activity). Describe what occurs in these scenarios or situations in detail.<\/li>\n<li>Describe in <em><strong>chronological order,<\/strong><\/em> using rich vivid details with\u00a0 objective language:\n<ul>\n<li>How the baby moves (please include all types of movements)?<\/li>\n<li>What the baby looks at, gaze at?<\/li>\n<li>What seems to attract the baby\u2019s interest? How can you tell?<\/li>\n<li>What toys, materials, and\/or furniture the baby uses while you are observing? How?<\/li>\n<li>How the baby vocalizes, including cries, babbling, and using real words?<\/li>\n<li>What other ways the baby communicates, including facial expressions and gestures?<\/li>\n<li>How the baby interacts with people?<\/li>\n<li>Anything else you notice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Capture the details of interactions between the baby and the environment, including the people in that environment.<\/p>\n<p>I suggest using <a href=\"https:\/\/1drv.ms\/w\/s!Aj5el915Dy5enXAhMPBGOoXMcMG1?e=CL9BRM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this form<\/a> to record your field notes for your observation (keep the form to write your Observation of an Infant Paper)<\/p>\n<p>The information from your observation of an infant will become your Observation of an Infant Paper, which is due 4\/8<\/p>\n<h1>Activity #4: Self-Assessment<\/h1>\n<p>At the end of the semester you will develop a Self-Assessment of what you have learned which will help to determine your grade for ECE 209. In preparation for your Self-Assessment, answer the questions below; you will answer these questions at the end of each module so you have a record of what you have learned over the semester.
