Far Rockaway is a neighborhood in the eastern part of the borough of Queens. This neighborhood begins at Beach 32nd Street and ends at Nassau County. I have lived in Far Rockaway five out of the six years since I moved to the U.S. Far Rockaway is a very diverse community, there are people from all over the world with different backgrounds and experiences. You can see the reflection of this diversity when you look at small businesses that make up this community. For instance there are African, Hispanics, White African American and Caribbean businesses that offer a variety of goods to their customers. The main attraction of Far Rockaway is the Rockaway beach. This beach attracts millions of New Yorkers every summer. There are also public spaces for members of this community such as the library and parks. The ambiance that surrounds this community is unique based upon where you live. There are certain parts of the Far Rockaway that have a very low crime rate, while there are parts of this neighborhood where crime is more frequent. Exploring this community you can see where members of this neighborhood work collectively to maintain the physical appearance of the community. While there are parts of the community that are kept in poor condition. The improvement that I would like to see in this neighborhood is community members being better at organizing community meetings to collectively resolve the issues in the neighborhood. And also become better at organizing social events such as block parties, so that the members of this neighborhood can become familiar with each other. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
