There are several aspects of HR we will identify and discuss: staffing, training and professional development, safety, benefits &amp; compensation, diversity &amp; inclusion, and employee and labor relations &#8212; we already learned a bit about employee relations when we discussed <strong>Ethics<\/strong> earlier in the semester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will dig into legislation that affects employees at all levels in the US, how HR representatives manage workforces and their ever-changing needs, and help employees feel safe and appreciated at work. Ultimately, HR is focused on an organization&#8217;s most important assets (or, resources): it&#8217;s humans!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>By the end of this unit, you should be able to:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Describe the core functions of human resource management<\/li><li>Explain how the functions of human resource management contribute to business success<\/li><li>Explain the function of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission<\/li><li>Summarize key anti-discrimination legislation<\/li><li>Discuss how businesses benefit from diversity in the workforce<\/li><li>Describe common recruitment strategies<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In order to successfully complete this unit, you\u2019ll need to do the following:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1.
