This is a very condensed course and it will take a lot of effort and self control to be effective and successful in this class. In Segment A, we will get oriented to the course and dive right into the content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note: all segments span a full week (except for Segment A, which starts when classes begin on Tuesday, September 6th because of the Labor Day holiday), which means there will <strong>always<\/strong> be at least two assignments due each Sunday through the end of the semester. It is up to you to budget your time accordingly. Please reach out via email at <strong>bbuckler@bmcc.cuny.edu <\/strong>if you have any questions or encounter any issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to verify your enrollment in this course, all tasks in our Segment A: Getting Started section must be completed by <strong>Sunday, September 11, 2022 at 11:59pm ET.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will also focus on two units of study: <strong>Unit 1: Introduction to Business<\/strong> <strong>&amp; Unit 2: Excel Skills for Business<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In <strong>Unit 1: Introduction to Business<\/strong>, we will explore the fundamentals of business: what defines a business, how businesses are categorized from a profit perspective, and some important terms we\u2019ll rely on throughout the semester like profit, loss, and value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In&nbsp;<strong>Unit 2: Business Technology<\/strong>, we will learn about Information Systems and why they are vital to business, before turning our focus specifically to Microsoft\u00ae Excel\u00ae which is a spreadsheet program used by most businesses for a myriad of reasons. As part of our BUS 104 requirements, students will learn the basics of Excel, through open educational resources, recorded tutorials, and self-practice and application. Throughout our semester, we\u2019ll examine how in both professional and personal settings, Microsoft\u00ae Excel\u00ae can make processes and record-keeping more efficient and accurate. (Plus, many employers list Microsoft\u00ae Excel\u00ae proficiency as a requirement for employment, so this unit and the semester-long focus on Microsoft\u00ae Excel\u00ae will help students in their chosen path after they complete this class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Use the Segment A links in our <a href=\"https:\/\/openlab.bmcc.cuny.edu\/bus-104-a050-intro-to-business-professor-buckler-fall-2022\/about-this-class\/schedule\/\"><strong>Course Schedule<\/strong><\/a> to access our Course Materials and Assignments for this unit.
