You must reapply for <strong>FAFSA and TAP every year<\/strong> to stay eligible. Your financial aid can change if your income or situation does. Don\u2019t forget to maintain <strong>Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)<\/strong> by keeping your GPA up, completing your courses, and staying on track to graduate; otherwise, your aid could vanish!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\r\n\r\n\r\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Myth #2: \u201cI support myself, so I don\u2019t have to include my parents\u2019 information on the FAFSA.\u201d<\/strong><\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Truth:<\/strong> Even if you support yourself financially, you may still be considered a <strong>dependent student<\/strong> for federal aid purposes. The FAFSA form determines this based on specific dependency questions. Visit <strong><a>StudentAid.gov\/dependency<\/a><\/strong> to review the criteria before you file!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\r\n\r\n\r\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Myth #3: \u201cI don\u2019t need to apply for TAP since I already did the FAFSA.\u201d<\/strong><\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Truth:<\/strong> FAFSA and TAP are <strong>two separate applications<\/strong>! FAFSA covers <em>federal aid<\/em>, while TAP provides <em>New York State aid<\/em>. ASAP students must complete <strong>both<\/strong> applications to stay in good standing and receive their full award package. You can apply or check your TAP status at <strong><a>hesc.ny.gov\/totw<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Stay Ahead of the Myths!<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Financial aid doesn\u2019t have to be scary.
