Talk about literacy practices in this community that aren&#8217;t taken into account by the school system. Also talk about this groups use of hegemonic tools of literacy practice to gain power<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The point of my essay is to shine light on how minorities (specifically african americans) are neglected by the public school system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I selected this topic because it\u2019s what I feel like related to me the most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My research will come from different sources like websites, class articles, and youtube videos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Part 2<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Forbes article How \u2018Reading Instruction\u2019 Fails Black And Brown Children\u201d by Natalie Wexler talks about the disadvantages minorities subjected to.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cLiteracy By Any Means Necessary: The History of Anti-Literacy Laws in the U.S\u201d by Carliss Maddox talks about how past literacy laws still affetct minorities today<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Part 3<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I feel like counternarrative is more likely to describe my project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Part 4<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWith COVID-19, The African-American Literacy Crisis Will Get Much Worse\u201d talked about how Children that have low literacy are less likely to get higher paying jobs as adults, or find employment in general.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Part 5<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I feel like everyone should care because if we want to progress as a society we need people from all walks of life with different perspectives to positively contribute.
